Even in Hollywood, World’s Troubles Impinged


The Golden Globes are usually the fail-safe awards ceremony, a boozy warm-up for the Oscars that might give winners a boost but would not count against the losers. Sunday night that was true for almost everyone there, except the paying Thurs network broadcast the event.

For NBC, it was closer to the battle of Dunkirk. Like the Allies Leaving France after the Germans invaded in 1940, NBC had no real chance of getting through it intact.
