During a tense two-hour meeting in Tel Aviv, Mr Netanyahu urged the settlers to stop building and co-operate, saying: ''You have the right to demonstrate. You have the right to protest. You have the right to express an opinion, but it's unacceptable not to respect a decision that was taken by law.''
''Nothing came out of the meeting,'' settler leader Pinhas Wallerstein said later.MORE,http://www.theage.com.au/world/israel-prepares-for-conflict-over-settlers-20091204-kaw8.html

Vidya Impressed with Abhishek's 'No Rehearsal' stand

When Paa came her way, Vidya Balan was excited about sharing screen space with superstar Amitabh Bachchan, but was Equally looking forward to working with Abhishek again. The actress is all admiration for Bachchan junior, who she says is an "Instinctive" actor and has "something so magical about his eyes."

"When Paa came to me, working with Mr. Bachchan was a definite incentive. However, the fact remains that I was actually looking forward to working with Abhishek too. We have acted earlier in the Guru and I know for sure that he is a fantastic co-actor, "Vidya told IANS.

Vidya is particularly impressed with Abhishek's 'No Rehearsal' stand that results in an "intuitive" acting experience.

"Since Abhishek does not rehearse, you do not really know what he is going to do when the director calls for a shot," she said. "When a take is called, there is so much give and take that actors exchange. This is why when he starts delivering his dialogues, you react in a way that was probably never planned. It helps you eventually bring about something intuitive."

"... But then there is this intrinsic honesty to his act as well. He always tries to do something that enhances a scene. Also, there is something so magical about his eyes, Which have a language of their own. This is something I had said that even during the time of the Guru and I am glad he has retained this quality even after all these years, "Vidya added.

So she was game Thurs playing Amitabh's mother or did she require much convincing?

"Frankly I was not too sure," confesses Vidya, who has earlier worked with Amitabh in Vidhu Vinod Chopra-directed Eklavya - The Royal Guard. "I had no clue if (director) Balki would actually be offering me a role of Mr. Bachchan's mother." Since I had a F Cheeni Kum, the maximum that I would have expected out of Paa was to play a lead opposite him. "

Vidya was in for a surprise when Balki explained the film's idea to her.

"I did not really know how to react." Here I was playing Abhishek Bachchan's love interest as well as his real father's reel mother - all in one film. I was like 'wow, now what's that! " It took me some time to absorb this, but eventually I did say yes, "Vidya said.

Paa, Which also stars Paresh Rawal in a key role, is set to release Friday.

Tough World Cup Draw For African Challengers

A heavy dose of reality crashed down upon African countries in hopes of a Fifa World Cup title after Friday's draw pitched the continent's most-fancied teams in challenging groups.

In the build-up to the draw in Cape Town, where locals flooded the city center for the most colorful of street parties, most of the talk centered upon Ghana and Ivory Coast spearheading Africa's unlikely quest.

But now the tables have turned on the Black Stars, among landed in Germany, Australia and Serbia (Group D) while the Ivorians face Brazil, Portugal and North Korea (Group G). Two of the continent's leading countries may now exit at the first hurdle , and it's hard not to feel some sympathy for Didier Drogba's Ivory Coast. Boasting a high-caliber team packed with seasoned Europe-based campaigners like Kolo Toure, his brother Yaya, Didier Zokora and Emmanuel Eboue, the West Africans surely deserved a break on their 2006 experience.

On that occasion, the Ivorians' Inaugural finals pitched them against a dangerous Argentina and a star-Studded Dutch side - a challenge that Proved too much, especially on the Elephants gifted both teams early leads 2-0.

Four years on, arguably the least they deserved was a sporting chance of progress but now their fate rests largely with their opener against Portugal in Port Elizabeth.
A result there could ease the Intriguing clash with Brazil five days later, and the Ivorians will be desperate to enter their final game against North Korea, with a second round place still at stake.read Morehttp://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/piersedwards/2009/12/tough_world_cup_draw_for_afric.html

The United States hopes the Canadian troops will "stay as long as they possibly can" in Afghanistan, U.S. President Barack Obama's national security adviser said yesterday as they encouraged the NATO nations To avoid "summary announcements of total withdrawal" from the war zone.

Speaking Thurs Foreign Reporters in Washington, retired General James Jones said Canada makes a "critical contribution" to the war effort but gave no indication the U.S. Ottawa has approached Thurs extend the Canadian combat mission over the past July 2011.

"Canada has made such a huge contribution to the mission in Afghanistan for so long that it is a charter member of the effort," Jones said.

"So I think that while we would Encourage everyone to stay engaged as long as possible without announcements summary of total withdrawal, those are national decisions that have to be made.

"We hope Canada and the Netherlands and other countries that are key members of this effort will be Able to stay as long as they possibly can, because they make such a critical contribution." Jones's remarks came as NATO announced 25 nations would Contribute additional 7.000 soldiers to Afghanistan in the wake of Obama's announcement this week that the U.S. 30.000 will send new troops to the Afghan mission.

The U.S. now has about 68.000 troops in Afghanistan, while NATO and non-NATO forces number about 38.000.Read Morehttp://www.montrealgazette.com/news/urges+Canada+stay+Afghanistan/2306302/story.html

Amanda Holden: ‘To Have kids You Have To Have Sex - I’ve Gone 16 Days Without Even Seeing My Husband’

There's no doubt that Amanda Holden's life is a world away from the average mum's.

Working on both sides of the Atlantic, she often has to leave her young daughter behind.

But spending so much time away from three-year-old Lexi and record producer husband Chris Hughes hasn't been an easy choice for her.

"Every working mum must be torn in the same way as we are," says Amanda, who traveled with Lexi to the U.S. for filming recently.

"From the moment you have a baby you're split between the work you love and your child.

"You always worry and at the end of every day I think I could have done things better.

"But I try and make sure I get her out in the fresh air every day and I always try to be home for Bedtime. It's not so bad Because now Lexi's still very young, so we're managing OK.

"I do not have a nanny and when we went away last time my mum was Judy Able to come with me so we managed Lexi Between Us. Chris and my dad Les even came out for a while so it was a real family trip too.

"Lexi's got a strict routine most of the time. From when she was just a few months old I was like a [baby expert] Gina Ford freak - I had her up at 7am, she was in bed at 7pm and she had a two-hour nap at 1pm. We lived our life around her. "

But Amanda's hopes for a brother or sister may run into problems as her hectic schedule looks set to continue for quite a while yet.

She says: "As soon as Britain's Got Talent ended I headed straight to New York for work and it's been constant ever since. I'm flat-out until the end of November, then a month off before BGT gets going again in the new year.

"I've always thought I'd love Lexi To Have a brother or sister. Bout To Have children, you have to have sex, and I've gone 16 days without even seeing my husband!

"If something happens, that will be great. And I know I'm heading for 39 in February but I do not feel any huge pressure To Have a second baby. I've already got a beautiful, healthy little girl with millions of friends. "

And Amanda, who is supporting toy company Hasbro's campaign to get families playing together, says having such a high-pressure career means she has to make an effort Thurs keep things alive in her relationship with Chris. "When I am away we are totally aware we need to keep in touch. We phone and text a lot.

"And when we're together I make sure I've covered the basics - matching underwear.

"I've always been a huge Sex And The City fan and love their life tips. You've always got to try, and a nice set of underwear is a basic. Even when I came out of hospital, feeling awful, I matched.

"You've got to remember it's hard for the man when you have a baby, they go right down the Pecking Order. I remember me and Chris were so shocked - we could not believe Lexi was ours and it was not just the two of us any more.Read Morehttp://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/2009/10/15/amanda-holden-to-have-kids-you-have-to-have-sex-i-ve-gone-16-days-without-even-seeing-my-husband-115875-21747571/
