After alarm, astronauts complete spacewalk

NASA astronauts at the International Space Station on Saturday completed a spacewalk that had been delayed after a false alarm woke the crews of the station and the visiting space shuttle Atlantis.

Atlantis crew members Michael Foreman and Randy Bresnik installed communications antennas and set cargo attachment mechanisms to the station's truss during their excursion, which lasted a little over six hours.
Earlier they had halted a body-conditioning sleepover in a low-pressure chamber on the station after a false depressurization alarm shut down ventilation fans.
The problem, which interrupted the sleep of crews on the station and the shuttle Atlantis for a second consecutive night, appeared to stem from a new Russian docking module that arrived at the station on Nov. 12.
Foreman and Bresnik were sleeping inside the station's Quest airlock when alarms indicated a rapid depressurization of the station..morehttp://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/11/21/AR2009112102136.html?hpid=sec-politics

College Football Betting - Ohio State Buckeyes at Michigan Wolverines

More;, November 21st – 12:10 PM ET Michigan Stadium
College Football Betting Spread: Ohio State -12
Ohio State: The Week That Was
The Buckeyes punched a ticket to Pasadena with a thrilling 27-24 overtime win against the Iowa Hawkeyes at the Horseshoe in Columbus. Ohio State made the evening more nerve-wracking than its fans wanted, but in the end, coach Jim Tressel’s team secured the program’s first Rose Bowl trip in 13 years.
Ohio State led, 24-10, early in the fourth quarter, but a special-teams breakdown allowed a 99-yard kickoff return to the Hawkeyes, who pulled within seven points at 24-17. Several minutes later, a dropped interception by Buckeye cornerback Chimdi Chekwa gave Iowa a reprieve, and the opportunistic Hawkeyes took advantage, tying the score at 24-all on a touchdown pass with 2:42 left in regulation.

In overtime, though, OSU rebounded. After Tressel’s defense produced an interception, a 39-yard field goal was all the Buckeyes needed to gain a spot in the Rose Bowl. http://www.betus.com/sports-betting/ncaa-football/free_picks/college-football-betting-ohio-state-buckeyes-at-michigan-wolverines/

Antitrust Concerns Linger in Google Books Deal

revised Google Books settlement agreement may quiet international opponents, but it still gives Google a monopoly on commercializing out-of-print books where the copyrights are unclaimed and fails to protect consumer privacy, opponents said on Monday.
"We're at a cross roads," Internet Archive Director Brewster Kahle said during a panel late Monday on the Future of Books at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco. "Is it going to be a subscription life...where one or two companies own the distribution and presentation (rights) to these books?"
In response, Google Books Engineering Director Dan Clancy said: "This is just one of a panoply of choices that people will have in the future."Morehttp://news.cnet.com/8301-27080_3-10398995-245.html

Kurbaan' a Brilliantly Designed Terror Plot(IANS Film Review; Rating ****)

2009-11-21 12:50:00

: 'Kurbaan'; Cast: Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Om Puri, Kirron Kher; Director: Rensil d'Silva; Rating: ****
'When a bomb explodes, mainly the innocent die,' says Vivek Oberoi towards the finale when, to put it at the most basic level, all hell breaks loose.

In 'Rang De Basanti', Rensil d'Silva had taken screenwriting in Hindi cinema to a new level of expressionism. With his directorial debut 'Kurbaan', Rensil carries the spoken, unspoken, visual and metaphorical language of mainstream cinema to an unvisited shore.

Blending the thorny theme of the political-cultural identity of the Muslim community post 26/11 with the commercial identity of contemporary Hindi cinema is not an easy task. The film manages to be superior to other films on global terrorism, a theme that now threatens to turn into a full-blown commercial formula.

In 'Kurbaan', the characters are not representational of Islamic ideology. They function in the brilliantly-designed plot as people who subscribe to the view that the Muslim community across the world is the victim of American oil-politics that threatens to annihilate the Islamic world.More;http://sify.com/news/39-Kurbaan-39-a-brilliantly-designed-terror-plot-IANS-Film-Review-Rating-news-National-jlvmObea

Interviewed by Vice President Noli de Castro on Saturday over his radio program, “Para sa iyo, Bayan,” Pacquiao said he was in Sarangani to support the filing of the certificates of candidacy of “my mayors” who will run in the local elections.
He said he would also file his COC once the party’s members have all filed theirs.
“Yes, kaya nga ako nandito para sa filing ng miyembro. Unahin ko muna sila. Tapos ako [Yes, that’s why I’m here first for the filing of the members. I will let them file first before I do],” he told De Castro.
But he said his party was not yet sure whether to coalesce with other parties or support any particular candidate on the national level.
Pacquiao thanked the people for supporting him in all his fights, and asked the people of Sarangani to also support him in his second shot at politics. Voracious carp Could Quickly Take Over Great Lakes

Participants in the Redneck Carp Tournament try to get their nets under a high-flying silver carp in the Illinois River. (Detroit Free Press): There are four species of Asian carp that are considered invasive and a threat to the Great Lakes: bighead, silver, black and grass. So far, evidence of silver and bighead has been found near Lake Michigan. Both filter plankton in the water into their mouths at an alarming rate, leaving little for other fish or organisms.

Bighead carp can grow to more than 5 feet long and can weigh 80 pounds or more. Silver carp tend to be slightly smaller, but they are easily disturbed by boat and jet ski motors and leap out of the water at the approach of a motor, sometimes injuring boaters.: What are Asian carp?Morehttp://www.freep.com/article/20091121/NEWS05/911210307/1322/Voracious-carp-could-quickly-take-over-Great-La

New Moon Review: Just Your Basic Love Story

newmoonposter 227x300 New Moon Review: Just Your Basic Love Story do people go crazy over the TwilightSaga? What is it about this story that makes grown women and teen girls alike swoon?
Here’s our take: because the real story at the crux of theTwilight series isn’t about vampires or werewolves--it’s about love. First love. It’s universal because so many people can relate to the experience of finding that first truelove.
We all remember the feelings that only come with that first big love.  Feeling like you’d literally die if you couldn’t have that person in your life.
Young women relate to Twilight because they’re experiencing that narcotic for the first time, but the appeal goes beyond teens--which is why it’s such a worldwide phenom. The saga resonates so strongly with millions because it takes people back to our experiences with our first true love.
Most of us don’t marry our first love.  Marriage and long-term relationships are way more about daily life--

One Potato, Two Potato Review/Video

I am a classic movie fan. There is something about some of the older movies that keeps my attention more than today's flicks. One Potato, Two Potato is one of them. It is a dramatic movie that is still something for today, an ongoing debate for some.
Recently it was reshown at the Cannes Film Festival. After being shown there, I am hoping AMC will pick it up for tv viewers.
MODESTLY conceived and executed by a pair of movie tyros and cheered and honored at the recent Cannes Film Festival, "One Potato, Two Potato," which arrived yesterday at the Murray Hill, Embassy and other theaters, deserves its accolades and yet, like life itself, disturbingly shows its imperfections.
In simply mirroring cancerous injustices stemming from an interracial marriage, a terrible quandary is starkly, if patly, pictured. Gnawing doubts remain after the film's climactic decision is made, but this festering problem of our flawed society, which could have been depicted sordidly and sensationally, is, instead, often made moving in basically honest terms.
