Pakistan Offensive kills 34 Militants After Bomb

Pakistan's Frontier Corps have STEPPED up an offensive targeting the Taliban havens in Bajaur district and four soldiers have been wounded in gunfights, a paramilitary official said.

Intensified the Pakistan raids around the towns of Mamoond and Salarzai towns after a suicide bomber attacked a military checkpoint, killing 17 people in the district's main town of Khar on Saturday.

"A total of 34 militants have been killed and an unknown number of them were injured in two days," Abdul Malik, a local administrative official told AFP by telephone.

"Ground troops pounded the hideouts with artillery while fighter jets carried air strikes and gunship helicopters Shelled their bases," he added.

Mamoond around is 12 kilometers northwest of Khar. Female Bomber kills 41 Shiite Pilgrims in Baghdad

The Attack took place at a female search point at a rest station where the pilgrims had stopped as they made their long Journey to Karbala, 110 kilometers (68 miles) south of the Iraqi capital, for a religious festival.

"At 11.45 am (0845 GMT), a woman wearing an explosives-filled belt Blew herself up in the middle of a crowd of pilgrims going to Karbala," said Major General Qassim Atta, spokesman for Baghdad operational command.

An interior ministry official gave the toll and said the wounded were being treated at five hospitals in Baghdad.

A medical official said initial reports indicated that five women and six children were among the dead.

Melody Queen Lata Felicitated

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K.
