Melody Queen Lata Felicitated
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K. Rosaiah felicitated melody queen Lata Mangeshkar in Hyderabad on Sunday with the 'Pride of India Kala Saraswathi' Music Award instituted by the Andhra Pradesh Kalavedika. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 15 lakhs, a replica of Charminar, a Veena and 'Swarna Kankanam'.
Several top film actors and singers, including Akkineni Nageswara Rao, writer C. Narayana Reddy, singer P. Suseela and senior Congress leader T. Subbirami Reddy were present at the felicitation program.
The event, organized by Andhra Pradesh Kala Vedika in association with the Department of Culture, started with a host of singers rendering popular Hindi film songs of Lata Mangeshkar.
