Sugababes: We're Not Changing Name
Founding Members Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy have filed a bid with the European Union's trademark office Thurs Reclaim the name, now that its existing line-up has no original members.
But Heidi, who replaced Siobhan in 2001, told BBC News Beat that she and her bandmates Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen had no fears about losing the name, saying: "Our record company owns the name Sugababes ... so there's no conversations about who owns the name. "
A spokesperson for the band said: "The right to use the name Sugababes in connection with all recorded music continues to be under the control of Island Records. Contrary to some recent misleading reports regarding an attempted trade mark application from last year, it's business as usual for Heidi, Amelle and Jade.
