Sex and The Schoolgirl

This is a Work With a sociopolitical view to sell, something it has in common with virtually every film turned out today, love stories included, but its didacticism is not the kind that under mines the credibility of the characters. That's no small achievement considering the broad-stroke commentary on class and social background in the portraits of the nude in question, their families and their community-many of whose members support the teaching of Abstinence and vehemently oppose the sale of condoms in the schools .

There's no denying the film's view of such issues: Condoms work, Abstinence programs do not. But program disputes Fires Are not what this drama's energies-the credit belongs to a sharp script (Pamela Davis) and characters who come Roaring to life in surprising ways. The film's official Heroine is Sidney (Thora Birch), a former resident of the town who had troubles of her own once. Now an online journalist, she's on a self-appointed assignment Thurs uncover the cause of the rise in pregnancies at her old high school and do something about it. She does, but for all Ms.. Birch's jaunty authority in the role, it's Nancy Travis as the conservative-values mother, Lorraine, who dominates every scene with the power of her performance.Read More,http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703699204575017022962642694.html?mod=WSJ_hp_editorsPicks

Borders Group CEO Ron Marshall Resigns

Mr. Marshall, 55 years old, took over as CEO at Borders on Jan. 5, 2009. A turnaround specialist with a strong financial background, Mr. Marshall is credited with reducing debt at Borders, cutting expenses and gaining the confidence of the publishing community in the Struggling retail chain. However, Borders had a very weak Christmas period and must now prove that it can boost revenue.

A & P declined to comment. Mr. Marshall could not be reached for comment.

"Mr. Marshall leaves at a time when many retailers are having difficulty pulling customers into their stores. The book business is rife with sharp discounting online for hardcover books, and the fast-growing demand for $ 9.99 electronic book best-sellers is luring away consumers who only a few years ago made their book purchases at bookstores.

Under Mr. Marshall and Mark Bierley, the retailer's chief financial officer, Borders has sharply reduced its corporate overhead and also expanded into the e-book retail business by taking a stake in Kobo Inc., an e-book retailer that Canadian retailer Indigo Books & Music Inc. spun off as a standalone entity late last year. Borders is expected Thurs integrate Kobo's e-book store into Borders.com this year.

But the chain, Which competes head-to-head with Amazon.com Inc., Barnes & Noble Inc., and major discounters that sell a limited selection of books at cheap prices, has so far failed to prove that it can generate sales gains . Revenue at Borders' super-stores for the 11-week holiday period ended Jan. 16 dropped 15% to $ 649.2 million while same-store sales, a key economic indicator, also fell by 15%. "Poor-Children-Are-Stray-Animals" Bauer Was a Beneficiary Of Subsidized School Lunch Programs As a Child

At This Point, I almost expect that any politician who presents him (or her) self as "Holier-than-thou" is going to have some unholy skeletons in their closet.
Witness the recent sex-tapes and love-child revelations from former North Carolina Senator John Edwards, The InterContinental escapades of current South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, the affairs, so to speak, of fundamentalists, member of the "Family," Senator John Ensign now under investigation for payments made to his former mistress (who is the former wife of Ensign's former staffer), and the Hypocrisy of Senator David Vitter (R-LA), who loves to moralize about other people's lives but was himself paying for sex workers. ... well you know what. Then we have former New York Governor Elliot Spitzer, the caped crusader against prostitution who was nonetheless paying women for sex and ferreting them across state lines to do so ... a double no-no. The list goes on.
But since the pattern of Hypocrisy has primarily involved sex and sexuality, it did not dawn on me to think of people being hypocritical about school lunch programs.Read More.http://www.rhrealitycheck.org/node/12396

Oracle-Sun Merger Wins EU Approval

The merger still needs approval from regulators in Russia and China, but Oracle said it expects "unconditional approval" from those countries and that it "intends to close the transaction shortly."
Among other things, Kroes said the EU's probe looked at Whether the deal would hurt competition in the database market. Through its buyout of Sun, Oracle gains control of the World's Most Widely-used MySQL database.

"The Commission's in-depth investigation Showed that although the MySQL and Oracle compete in certain parts of the database market, they are not close competitors in others, such as the high-end segment," the EU said in a statement.

The European Commission, the EU's antitrust body, said it also found that the open source PostgreSQL database represents a legitimate, independent alternative to MySQL. It also determined that the merger would not scotch users' access to Sun's Java development platform.

Oracle executives have said the acquisition of Sun would allow their company Thurs offer a complete portfolio of products and services and help spare customers the frustration of having to build business IT systems from piece parts.Read Morehttp://www.informationweek.com/news/software/database/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=222400062

Rex’s Philosophy Paying OFF

Ryan set goals of having the No.. And No. 1 defense. 1 running game in the NFL and his team achieved those in his first year. Ryan brought his philosophy with him from Baltimore, where he was the defensive coordinator.
The approach is much different than his predecessor Eric Mangini's. Mangini loved to talk about being "game-plan specific," meaning they would adjust his strategy each week depending on the opponent.
"It was moreso trying to take away certain things a team does," tackle Damien Woody said. "Rex is like, 'Screw that. We're going to do what we do is a defense and we're going to do what we do is offense. We're going to run the ball. We're going to play defense and you're just going to have to beat us. "He's like, 'We do not think you're going to beat us at what we do'."
