Shahid Rehman Rides Lady Narnia To Derby Victory
The 80 Favorite to 100 four-year-old Filly, Patiently ridden by jockey Shahid Rehman romped to over five-length victory with the colt, Dear Creek, the Mount of Faisal Tahir is in the running for second place.
Karachi's entry, Bay Filly, Historical, who battled among the front runners in the early stages of the race fell back to third position with the Prince colt moving in Dubai to complete the frame in the 11-strong field.
It was Shahid's fifth success in this classic following victories in 1999, 2002, 2004 and 2005 is the Fair Magic, Kingfisher, Naseeb and Moment Of Love, respectively. However, it was the first victory for trainer, Haji Abid Mahmood, who recalled a similar success of his trainer-father in 1977 the High Again to make it to the second generation.
Lady Narnia took up the running with 400m to go in the 2400m long test of Stamina, speed and endurance and the result was never in doubt when she burst in to the lead.
