Nicholas Cage Named Global Citizen Of The Year
Nicholas Cage has won the Global Citizen of the Year award from the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon for his Contribution to humanitarian work, the BBC reported Saturday. The actor was also appointed UN goodwill ambassador on Drugs and Crime at the award presentation ceremony.
"Nicolas Cage's characters have exposed us to some of the Darkest aspects of human nature," the BBC quoted Mr Antonio Maria Costa, executive director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, as saying. "Now he is championing one of the most noble - The Quest for Justice. His star status and strong conviction on these issues will help us achieve security and justice for all."
