U.S., European Commission Approve Microsoft-Yahoo Search Engine Alliance
American and European regulators Thursday approved a deal by Microsoft and Yahoo to merge their search engine operations in a bid Thurs challenge Google's dominance of the Internet advertising market.
The European Commission announced the approval in Brussels "to increase competition in the Internet search and search advertising." The U.S. Department of Justice also approved the deal in Washington.
Under the deal, Yahoo will use Microsoft's search engine Bing and provide an exclusive global sales force. Microsoft, in turn, will acquire Yahoo's search engine technology for 10 years and hire the sales force. It will also retain 12 percent of revenues generated on search Yahoo's and its partner websites.Read More Story,http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7017868453
